| (*)This image shows part of the Chamaeleon III cloud, which is part of a group of molecular clouds found in the constellation of Chamaeleon. The clouds have a size of a few degrees and are perfect widefield imaging targets. The distances of the three main clouds range from 520-580 light years and are also isolated from other major star forming complexes. All three clouds have been surveyed for young stars by many professional astronomers in the past few decades but none have been found in the Chamaeleon III cloud. Also visible near the left edge of the image is the dwarf galaxy IC 3104, which is relatively nearby at a distance of approximately 7.5 million light years.
